The portrait is one of the most highly regarded of all art genres, its history going back at least 5,000 years to ancient Egypt and possibly beyond. With the development of the art academy in the 16th century, portraiture was placed high on the hierarchy of acceptable subject matter. Henry Ward has joined this long, age-old line of portrait art and artists, having practiced this branch of art for more than twenty years.

Le portrait est l’un des genres artistiques les plus appréciés, son histoire remontant à au moins 5 000 ans, à l’Égypte ancienne et peut-être même au-delà. Avec le développement de l’académie des arts au XVIe siècle, le portrait a été placé en haut de la hiérarchie des sujets acceptables. Henry Ward a rejoint cette longue et séculaire lignée de portraitistes et d’artistes, puisqu’il pratique cette branche de l’art depuis plus de vingt ans.
