Our new Permanent Exhibition for 2020-2021 takes on the very pertinent topic of public health in The Bahamas. From bush medicine to hospitals, to how to look after and protect the spirit, we will look at what health and wellness look like in our history to begin conversations around our future wellbeing.
The NAGB Permanent Exhibition serves as an opportunity for us to highlight works from the National Collection in conversation with works from private collections. These exhibitions usually take on a physical life within the walls of the NAGB, and are up for display for approximately 12 months on the ground floor of the museum, giving you, the public, a chance to see the works that we all own as people of The Bahamas and our cultural patrimony. For the upcoming iteration of the PE, “Medicine and Memory: Public Health in The Bahamas”, we have included an online show to accompany the on-site exhibition that will open later in the year.
Notre nouvelle exposition permanente pour 2020-2021 aborde le sujet très pertinent de la santé publique aux Bahamas. De la médecine de brousse aux hôpitaux, en passant par la façon de soigner et de protéger l’esprit, nous examinerons à quoi ressemblent la santé et le bien-être dans notre histoire pour entamer des conversations sur notre bien-être futur.
L’exposition permanente de la NAGB est l’occasion pour nous de mettre en lumière des œuvres de la collection nationale en conversation avec des œuvres de collections privées. Ces expositions prennent généralement une vie physique dans les murs du NAGB, et sont exposées pendant environ 12 mois au rez-de-chaussée du musée, vous donnant ainsi, au public, une chance de voir les œuvres que nous possédons tous en tant que peuple des Bahamas et notre patrimoine culturel. Pour la prochaine itération du PE, “Médecine et mémoire : Public Health in The Bahamas”, nous avons prévu une exposition en ligne pour accompagner l’exposition sur place qui ouvrira plus tard dans l’année.
